Theodore Munsat, M.D.


Dr. Theodore “Ted” Munsat is Professor of Neurology Emeritus at Tufts University and Senior Neurologist at New England Medical Center.


His distinguished career in clinical and international neurology has included serving as Director of the Neuromuscular Research Unit of Tufts-New England Medical Center and Director of the MDA ALS Treatment and Research Center. Dr. Munsat has served as President of the American Academy of Neurology, is an honorary member of the All-Russian and Honduras Societies of Neurology, and received the Outstanding Leadership Award by the Association Indian Neurologists in America. His substantial contributions to the field of neurology and his compassion for neurological needs in developing countries have been recognized extensively, including the Distinguished Alumnus Award for Academic and Scientific Achievement of the University of Vermont College of Medicine and First Lou Gehrig Memorial Lectureship of Columbia University.

Under his Chairmanship of the World Federation of Neurology Education Committee, he led the development and implementation of many successful educational projects supporting neurology practice in low income regions, including the WFN Continuing Education Program, providing CME for 42 regions globally, and the Honduran Training Program in Neurology in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
